Therapy that works with the body, not just the mind.

Our bodies are so intelligent and our nervous system is designed to keep us safe but most of us ignore them

We give the body space to breathe and communicate its needs.

If you are currently feeling stuck, wired, overwhelmed or simply curious about body-first counselling.

It is absolutely mental if you think about it that our bodies are only just being given space to talk in therapy rooms.

How your mind, body and nervous system typically shape your decisions…

your nervous system reacts first

your body holds onto stress patterns

your mind makes sense of things last.

so, what changes when we actually listen to our body-first?

Slowing down and acknowledging your nervous systems reaction first you will start to notice:

  • reactions earlier

  • be able to differentiate fear from intuition

  • feel where you override yourself and your actual needs

  • build capacity to stay present under pressure

  • make decisions from choice, not survival

Body-first approaches feel like this...

nervous system chills out + will be happy you listened!

your body feels like it can breathe again and make decisions with your mind

your mind might initially be confused af (which is when we introduce parts therapy!)

Parts therapy is a way of understanding that you are not one fixed personality but made up of different parts shaped by your experiences.

There may be a part of you that strives and achieves, a part that avoids, a part that feels anxious and a part that carries old shame or grief.

Rather than judging or suppressing these parts, we get to know them…understanding what they are protecting and why they developed. Through body awareness and nervous system work, we help these parts feel heard and integrated, so you can respond from a more grounded, compassionate space within yourself instead of being pulled by unconscious patterns of an old traumatic or stressful memory.

Parts therapy is potent + so liberating for the mind

About me

I’m a trauma-informed Somatic Counsellor and Communications Strategist.

Before training in counselling, I worked in high-pressure environments across climate, leadership and international systems work for organisations from UNDP and Greenpeace. I understand what it feels like to hold responsibility, push through and override your own needs.

My approach is grounded and practical.

I’m certified through ISOHH (accredited by ACCPH) and integrate nervous system awareness, parts therapy with breathwork, movement therapy and EMDR where appropriate.

This practice forms the foundations of a wider project I’m building called Body Space focused on making body-based mental health literacy more accessible and grounded in our everyday life.

 FAQs

  • Somatic Counselling is a holistic approach that integrates the mind, body and emotions. It focuses on how our physical sensations and movements connect to our emotional and mental well-being. Through techniques like breathwork, body awareness and mindfulness, we work together initially with traditional talking therapy to release stored trauma, reduce stress and promote healing.

  • That’s ok! We can start with an introductory call where I’ll explain the different approaches I use, share a simple PDF you can read in your own time, and answer any questions, because finding the right therapist is important!

  • We live in systems that prioritise:

    • Output over regulation

    • Certainty over curiosity

    • Performance over presence

    • Logic over lived experience

    So we internalised that hierarchy.

    Head first.
    Body later (if at all).

  • You are in control of what you share. My role is to support you at your own pace.

  • Somatic counselling is generally suitable for anyone who is open to exploring the mind-body connection. However, if you have specific medical or psychological conditions, it’s best to discuss this so we can determine the best approach for you.

  • Sessions are tailored to your needs and can include talking, guided body awareness exercises, breathwork, gentle movement and mindfulness practices. Each session is a collaborative process intuitively designed to help you feel safe and supported as we explore your experiences.

  • It's normal to feel unsure at first, especially if this is a new experience. I create a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you can feel safe exploring these aspects. We go at a pace that feels right for you.
